Our client is a VC-backed high-growth start-up (Headquartered in Toronto, Canada) building software to make access to knowledge and support easy and instant for franchises The software can look through all information stored across operating manuals, file management systems, training videos, chat groups, etc. and provide summarized answers to franchisee operational questions instantly.
About your role:
Our client is a forward-thinking company dedicated to revolutionizing information retrieval and providing quick and accurate responses to business queries. This encompasses a range of responsibilities: from ingesting our customer’s documentation and user data, providing reliable access through several different access channels, storing the results of these interactions and then providing platform access to monitor/analyze these interactions for our users.
Overview of Responsibilities:
Manage a team of experienced full stack and backend engineers who build and maintain the infrastructure of our product.
Work in close collaboration with the Machine Learning team as well as the Product team to build features that not only delight the customer but are robust and well-designed.
Take a leading role in architecting a framework that will stand the test of scaling up to hundreds of customers.
Develop your team of engineers by enforcing best practices and helping individuals through technical mentorship
Get your hands dirty as an IC working on areas such as orchestration, databases and cloud OPS.
Required skills and experience:
5+ years of experience working as an IC engineer: showcasing broad knowledge of backend topics.
At least 2 years of experience working as a technical lead or engineering manager and the ability to drive projects, communicate with stakeholders and manage deadlines.
Experience and demonstrated success working at an early stage (Series A or earlier) start-up.
Strong enough experience in both Python and Javascript to be able to lead code reviews, and encourage good coding practices and frameworks in both languages.
High degree of familiarity with AWS: with an eye towards both scalability and security.
Desirable skills and experience:
A few years experience managing ~5 ICs, preferably in a startup environment.
Specialized experience in security: e.g. managing credentials, leading security audits etc.
Experience leading integrations into either access channels (MS Teams, Slack etc) or file management systems (legacy intranets, Sharepoint, etc)
Experience working on or alongside ML teams to enable them to deliver value to the consumer.
