As a founding engineer, you’ll take ownership of core product and data systems from day one, helping define both the technical foundation and the product direction. You’ll work across engineering, data, infrastructure, and product to build a modern accounting platform centered on organizing, reconciling, and making sense of complex financial data.
Your work will have an immediate impact on how finance teams, operators, and businesses achieve clarity, accuracy, and confidence in their financials.
Design and build data-intensive systems:
Architect and implement pipelines that ingest, normalize, reconcile, and validate large volumes of financial data from multiple sources (banks, payment processors, ERPs, and internal systems).
Create reconciliation-first workflows:
Build intelligent systems that match transactions, surface discrepancies, handle edge cases, and reduce manual effort in month-end and ongoing reconciliations.
Develop core accounting infrastructure:
Implement ledger models, audit trails, versioned data, and controls that prioritize accuracy, traceability, and compliance.
Build full-stack product experiences:
Develop dashboards, review tools, and collaborative workflows that make reconciliation intuitive, transparent, and fast for finance teams.
Apply intelligence to financial data:
Leverage rules engines, heuristics, and ML/AI techniques to automate classification, anomaly detection, and reconciliation suggestions over large datasets.
Scale for reliability and trust:
Design systems that handle high data volumes, strict consistency requirements, and enterprise-grade security while remaining performant and debuggable.
Set engineering standards from the ground up:
Establish best practices for data quality, testing, observability, and documentation, and help shape a culture of rigor, ownership, and craftsmanship.
Collaborate closely with customers and product:
Work directly with product, operations, and early customers to translate real accounting pain points into durable technical solutions.
5+ years of software engineering experience, with meaningful exposure to data-heavy or financial systems.
Experience shipping production systems in fast-moving startup environments (0→1 or early-stage scaling).
Strong skills in one or more of:
Backend systems and APIs
Data modeling and pipelines
Distributed systems and infrastructure
Full-stack web development
Comfort working with complex, messy data and turning it into reliable, auditable systems.
A builder mindset with a bias for action and comfort operating in ambiguity.
Strong judgment around correctness, edge cases, and long-term maintainability — especially in financial contexts.
Bonus:
Experience with accounting software, reconciliation engines, or financial data aggregation.
Background in enterprise SaaS, fintech, or compliance-sensitive systems.
Familiarity with applying ML/AI to structured data problems (classification, matching, anomaly detection).
