Business Intelligence Engineer 

The Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer will be responsible for developing, managing, and deploying
various business intelligence solutions that will enable the business to transform data into meaningful
insights. The BI Engineer’s role is to assimilate data from multiple sources into consumable data
solutions as well as assist with the development, governance, and management of various data
platforms. The BI Engineer must be capable of networking with business stakeholders regularly to
gather data requirements, provide necessary guidance, offer recommendations, and translate end user needs into technical specifications

Responsibilities
  • Gather requirements and provide functional specifications detailing recommended solution(s),
  • deliverables, and timelines for reporting and/or data related requests
  • Development and enforcement of IT quality control methods/standards necessary to maintain data
  • integrity and security
  • Leverage, evaluate, and improve business intelligence platforms by utilizing industry knowledge
  • and analyzing/reviewing business data requirements
  • Build and support data warehouse processes which will enable internal and external stakeholders
  • to consume value-add data solutions delivered by the organization
  • Report design and development using SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
  • Prepare, model, and deploy reports and visualizations leveraging business intelligence tools (i.e.,
  • PowerBI) to enable value-add decision making by various business units
  • Build sustainable data mart solutions for various departments to help them achieve a reliable selfservice data solution to support their day-to-day operations
  • Execute strategies by leading your peers from cross-functional groups including but not limited to
  • Finance, Inventory Management, IT, Operations, Sales, and Manufacturer Relations
  • Liaise with other business intelligence colleagues, including your manager, to explore new
  • prospective opportunities with data products and services that will benefit the organization 
  • Evolve existing strategies to keep up with business needs and improving effectiveness and
  • efficiency
  • Drive bottom-up data driven recommendations as well as adapt to top-down requirements from the
  • leadership team
  • Collaborate with various business stakeholders and team members to test processes, programs,
  • functions, and results from current and future data solutions
  • Data transfer development using ETL tools
  • Develop and update technical documentation
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
  • 5-10 years of hands-on experience in a data-related role
  • 3+ years of experience managing data-related projects
  • Knowledge in the healthcare industry an asset 
  • Experience in relational database development
  • Microsoft SQL certification
  • DB2 knowledge an asset
  • Cognos knowledge an asset
  • Possesses strong aptitude in the following:
                                                    OLAP
                                                    SSRS
                                                    ETL
                                                    SSAS
                                                    Data Warehousing
  • Experience with Business Intelligence technologies (i.e., PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Experience with flowcharting and project management software and techniques (Visio, MS
  • Projects)
  • Demonstrated and well-developed analysis and analytical skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to quickly learn and apply new concepts
  • Strong ability to work with various stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of supply chain industry
  • Proven ability to be analytical and creative while applying strict attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Team player with effective interpersonal skills
