Director of Human Resources

The Director, Human Resources will be instrumental in providing tactical HR support to senior leadership, employees, and managers across multiple locations in Canada. This role requires an experienced HR professional with a robust background in talent acquisition, employee development, performance management, and strategic planning.

The Director, Human Resources will play a crucial role in administering HR initiatives, projects, and programs in partnership with the business. They will leverage their HR expertise and business acumen to provide in-depth guidance, advice, and coaching that drives high performance and employee
engagement. 

This role will appeal to a hands-on HR Business Leader.

Team: The HR team consists of 5 FTEs and supports approximately 470 employees across Canada

This role is primarily an in office role. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, leads and executes various people strategies, ensuring alignment to the overall business strategy.
  • Provides performance management support in relation to business transformation activities as well as any HR initiatives or annual programs/policies that impact the organization.
  • Diagnoses issues and identifies HR implications of business strategy working closely with business leaders to execute on the strategy.
  • Leads the annual Performance Management process, as well as other higher risk, change projects or programs with significant organizational impact.
  • Responsible for executing on all aspects of the talent lifecycle and proactively identifies and analyzes talent issues before they impact the business.
  • Engages stakeholders to take action; facilitates action by partnering with the leaders.
  • Protects the interests of the company and employees in accordance with company policies and provincial legislation. Minimizes risk.
  • Supports the annual HR budgeting process
  • Other duties as required

Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in a director role managing an HR department.
  • University degree and 7+ years of experience as an HR generalist or, an equivalent combination and background across all facets of HR, including Change Management, Transformation, Org Design and Talent Management.
  • CHRP or CHRL and a graduate degree in Business or Industrial Relations or in Human Resource Management is an asset.
  • Subject matter expertise in organizational change management and the ability to integrate with business strategy.
  • Subject matter expertise in all human resources disciplines and the ability to effectively enable communications to all levels of an organization.
  • Highly effective coaching and relationship management skills.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Working knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce an asset.
  • Logistics and/or pharmaceutical industry experience an asset.
