Devops/Platform Engineer

What You Will Do

In joining our team, your primary responsibilities will involve client-facing activities, both in pre- and post-sales capacities.  Your secondary responsibilities will be to support internal functions related to both the operational infrastructurel as well as research, training, and personal development efforts.   
Primary duties will include, but are not limited to the following: 
  • Be a SME around Dev/Ops, Automation and Open-Source Technologies; Provide consulting around DevOps Tools commonly found in the CNCF landscape, Containers Platforms, Automation Solutions, Software Development Strategies, and Cloud.   
  • Deliver Project-Based Professional Services; Architect, Implement and Support a wide-range of proprietary and open-source technologies.  
  • Work as a member of our Managed Services Team; Support multiple Managed Service customers’ on-going modernization initiative and needs.  Contribute as part of our DevOps Team, delivering consulting and professional services to customer subscribed to DevOps-as-a-Service Backup-as-a-Service managed service offering.   

What We're Looking For

  • Someone who is technologist at heart, loves solving problems, enjoys working in a dynamic environment and is comfortable in a client-facing capacity, delivering services and interacting with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong Unix/Linux system administration skills (minimum 3 years).
  • Experience with automation and configuration management (Ansible, Terraform, +others) to identify repeatable patterns that can automated to streamline our customer needs, to manage deployments at scale and reduce overall effort.
  • Working knowledge of containers and related technologies
  • Strong understanding of application development and GitOps; Version Control Systems, Configuration Management, Continuous Integration, Delivery and Deployment
  • Working Knowledge with Application modernization; lift and shift, re-factoring, re-platforming, re-hosting, and migration
  • Experience with at least one programming language: BASH, Python, Perl, Ruby, GO, JavaScript, Swift, C#, C++, Scala, etc. (minimum 1 year).
  • Experience leading infrastructure and application modernization initiatives.
  • A versatilist with experience designing and deploying solutions in the cloud
  • Someone who is willing to learn, grow and challenge themselves for personal development
  • Has flexibility to occasionally travel and work with customers on-site; primarily in the GTA

Other Great Skills to Have

  • Knowledge and working experience of various cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift, Rancher working experience
  • Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE certification or equivalent with SUSE
  • Veritas NetBackup and/or Backup Exec experience and VSE
  • CISCO CCIE
    • Designing Cisco Data Center Infrastructure (DCID)
    • Implementing Cisco DC Infrastructure (DCII)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate / Azure Solutions Architect
